Normally, my reviews are objective and devoid of phrases like “piece of junk,” “worthless,” “waste of money.” This product is a nightmare, and its very low price is justified by its lack of function. Literally, the product fell apart during its first use. And, unless you are an engineer, you will never again reassemble this alleged bottle and jar opener. There are only three parts. I came close to getting it back together once. That’s when I discovered that the product will not properly tighten on any lid or cap, and that it will not grip the lid or cap. I am not going to waste time returning the product. I have suffered a few times on these bargain Chinese manufactured products. My purpose is to spare other buyers the frustration and disappointment.

I like this product and will keep it because it does exactly as advertised and is quite useful for jelly jars, peanut butter jars, some large vitamin bottle caps, etc. It does not work well on bottles because it requires two hands to operate the opener and a third hand to hold a bottle. It is not designed for bottles, but a lot of packages are plastic bottles and jars.
This product works better than anything I have tried on glass jars with metal caps. It does not work on products whose jars were designed for xl man-hands. Nothing works to open those poorly designed products.

I used to have one of these about 20 years ago. Found it a few months ago. SO HAPPY TO HAVE ONE AGAIN! Makes opening jars so much easier with the arthritis in my hands. Jars that I have had to pound on cabinet, hit repeatedly with knife to pop seal, pop open with little strength needed. At least, most of the jars. One or two have been slightly problematic. It claims you can take a soda bottle cap off. I have not been able to do so, but will try again later.

Not that useful when you have arthritis because for one it doesnβt always like to stay secured to lid sides and ends up falling off before you can spin it to open jar but, mainly it isnβt great for those with hand issues like arthritis because you still have to tightly hold jar to use this tool once secured on lid enough to use it. I ended up getting shooting pains in my left hand just from having to grasp jar so tightly! recommend you just skip this one or any other tool you need to use two hands with and just buy a used β Black & Decker JW200BM Lids Off Jar Openerβ for around $40-$50 that will cause NO pain to your hands!!

Itβs a jar opener..canβt really get too excited about that..it is what it is. No surprises, no directions, and no extra strength needed. If youβre looking to make a Tuna Melt, this product is for u. Iβd recommend it-why not

Well. It fooled me. My jars open twisting the lid from the left to the right. This jar opener opens up when twisted from the left to the right, and tightens up when twisting from the right to the left. I don’t know how to open a jar twisting from the right to the left it only tightens the jar. There was no engagement of any gears. There was no ability to make it stick onto the jar lid, eg rubber grips. It just slipped off. I also saw in the videos they are opening the jars from right to left. Although the instructions on Amazon site tell you to twist the handle after tightening onto the jar lid, they don’t say which direction or whether they’re is some trick to it. No instructions come in the box. I sent it back. Obviously, I was too obtuse to use it.

This opener works great and simple to use. I bought this one for a gift for an older friend who was having trouble getting jar covers off.. I use mine all the time and makes things much easier to open. Fast shipping and good price.

I bought it to help me to open a jar of pasta sauce. I have arthritis in both my hands so doing it without somebody to help me is impossible. However to use this item I have to use both my hands and thatβs impossible to get the jar open. Some someone with better hands than I could probably do it.

It seems a bit difficult to begin the βunscrewβ turn , taking my other hand to stabilize the device on the jar, then it procedes very nicely. A much better way for my old hands to open things!
bella (verified owner) –
This item worked very well on large jars but I donβt have a lot of strength in my hands and could not get it to work on small jars.
Greg BSEE (verified owner) –
Great idea but metal slips on metal lid. Youβll need to file to add some teeth, tool handle plastic grip, heat shrink to actually not slip on the lid.
After the modification it works great

This gadget is awesome but does not work well on slippery caps. But on all other type jars and bottles it works great and a real lifesaver for weak hands.

We need to use this opener a few more times to have a more informed opinion. It seems that it will help a lot. One concern is that I might spill some contents while learning to operate it efficiently.

Seriously. I have no strength in my hands. The little gripper things don’t really work for me. My mother-in-law has one of these, and I tried it. I came home and ordered one. I can actually open jars with no problem now. I love it. My daughters love it. I ordered another one for my mother.

Once I learned to use it itβs great. No instructions came with it.

My mother saw a video of this and had me search for it . She has tried it and loves it. Makes things so much easier and loves how it adjusts

I am a single 69-year-old woman, and I finally found a product that allows me to be more sufficient! I can open my jars myself now!
I was embarrassed having to contact my next door neighbor, and ask him to open jars I couldn’t open.
I read many reviews about many products before I chose this product. Many people in the same circumstances as I am found it very helpful, so I took a chance, and ordered one.
What works best for me is to hold on to the jar itself with a rubber grippy cloth, and set it between my knees while I am turning the crank.
sgebbie (verified owner) –
This jar opener has a good concept but doesnβt adjust enough for smaller jars like jam etc. Get a silicone gripper pad and save yourself the trouble.

I got this to open my cheese sauce jars. I have a hard time opening some of the jars and this things makes life easier. Works great a all jars that are hard to open. Great gifts for older people too that can’t open jars that well.
Gina (verified owner) –
I have severe arthritis in my hands and this is very good to have.
Avalon (verified owner) –
I’m amazed at how well this works on all lid sizes.
So easy to use.
elecbggxndt (verified owner) –
Best inovation in the world. It’s super hard to open a jar and I hate it.
This tool solves my problem and could easily open a jar.
Paula McCarthy (verified owner) –
Very easy to use. Love it!

Being in the early stages of arthritis, I have no idea why I had not purchased something like this before now! I am very glad that I now have and I am very pleased with the quality and ease of use of this product. It is so very very very helpful for me!!

I bought this for my elderly Mom, as she doesn’t have the hand strength anymore to open jars, and banging them on the table to break the vacuum seal is dangerous. This both gives you a grip, torque, and breaks the vacuum seal. I have my grandmother’s antique version (which is better quality), and searched for another. I found this, and it has worked and held up well, but the working parts have more play in them than my antique one.
Mandy Merritt (verified owner) –
Works great for small hands that cannot grip a large lid very well
carmencita (verified owner) –
This is a jar opener that works
Diane Andrus (verified owner) –
I bought this for my mother to make it easier for her to open jars or what ever she needed but it will not grip to any thing. Even when I tried it. It was more of a hassle than anything.
james kidd (verified owner) –
Just what we needed for old arthritio hands .

I purchased this to aid in my opening milk jugs. I have a wrist that bothers me and this does help to use this. Although sometimes it slips off a little too easily but once you can get it seated properly, it does the job quite nicely.
