I read a lot of reviews about this product before placing an order (too many reviews than I’d care to admit), and I hope this review will clear-up a few things.

Many people say that this draft guard isn’t perfect for their needs. Of course it isn’t. There is no product that’s going to work for every possible thickness of door, every possible door width, every possible floor texture, and every possible gap between door and floor. This is a KIT and it’s a GREAT little kit. If you’re looking for something that will keep drafts out, that doesn’t require a permanent install with screws or glue, and if you’re willing to cut (and possibly sew a little), this kit is an excellent solution.

A number of reviews say this kit comes with Styrofoam. It doesn’t. It’s more of an EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam. Styrofoam is very rigid, dents, crumbles, and breaks or snaps when under stress. The EPP foam in this draft guard is better than Styrofoam and has rigidity, but some flexibility and will rebound rather than break. This product uses good quality foam. I recognized the EPP foam when I opened the kit from my R/C glider days. The stuff is durable and still light.

This kit is pretty simple to assemble and you can get as basic or as fancy as you like. You cut the foam to the lengths needed for your door and you couple two rollers together per side to make two longer rollers. It’s done this way probably for shipping (you get a total of four short rolls to make two long rolls using rigid plastic couplings). Once the rollers are slid into the brown cloth sleeves, you wrap one end of the cloth over and it stays put with Velcro. You then slide the whole guard under your door and viola. It moves back and forth with the door.

If you want to get fancy or if you have a thin door or you’re worried the guard will slide out, you can do things like sew the cloth a bit tighter, pin the guard to the bottom of the door with thumbtacks, etc. But I didn’t need to do that with mine.

As best I can tell, this guard is going to work great on all surfaces except shag rugs (which might have too much friction). Tile, linoleum, wood floors, laminates, and carpet all seem like they’d be fine. It slides easiest obviously on smooth surfaces, but even on carpet it works great (I tested it).

The last thing I’ll say is that I’ve been using a bean-bag type snake draft guard for a few years and I’ve become very tired of moving it manually back and forth at night. I like this new draft guard so much that after I got my first one, I placed an order for two more. I think this thing is great. I’m currently using one at the office for auditory privacy, but I’m going to get two more for home use to stop drafts.

I would first like to address the issue regarding some of the reviews I’ve read about the product being shipped and arriving folded in a box. I get the impression that there are different versions of this product. I purchased the Twin Draft Guard EXTREME. Mine arrived being 4 separate styrofoam tubes shipped straight/unfolded in a plastic shipping bag. Two of the 4 tubes have a plastic collar/sleeve on them to insert the other two tubes into to make two long ones.
The installation instructions say to measure your door and cut the tubes 1/2″smaller — in my situation I actually had to cut the tubes just slightly more than 1″ smaller than my door width for the Draft Guard to clear the butt moldings on each side of my door frame.

In reading some of the reviews some claim the Draft Guard to be loose and sloppy and too big for the thickness of their door. I can’t understand why, my door is 1.25″ thick and my Draft Guard fits perfectly. My thought on that is that the Draft Guard is probably an automated mass produced product, like most products are these days, and perhaps occasionally some accidentally get stitched improperly at the factory, resulting in a poor and sloppy fit. Most door widths and thicknesses are generally pretty standard, and the fact that there are more favorable than negative reviews seems to somewhat support my improperly stitched/manufactured theory.

In my particular application I purchased the Draft Guard Extreme for a door between my kitchen and back hall entrance area. The kitchen side floor is tile and the other side is carpeting … the carpeting side which the Draft Guard slides on. Being that I have an older house the floor is not perfectly level — the gap beneath the door is slightly larger on one side than the other, and still the Draft Guard seals the entire gap and slides fine on the carpeting. Because of the carpeting, and mostly due to the uneven gap, the Draft Guard was a little tighter beneath my door on one side causing the Draft Guard to slide over a bit, but I quickly remedied that problem as others did by securing the Draft Guard with two thumb tacks on each side of the door. I must admit prior to purchasing the Draft Guard the uneven gap and carpeting were my two concerns, but those concerns have been put to rest.

The weather has just started to turn cold in my area and I can already feel the difference. The draft which I could once feel coming from beneath my kitchen/rear hall door is gone and is now history!
If installed (and manufactured) properly I see no reason for anyone not to achieve positive results with the Draft Guard Extreme. One should also bear in mind that the Draft Guard, given its affordability, is a product aid meant as an alternative to performing costly door/floor repairs, which in most cases will help stop, or at least minimize/reduce door drafts. Anyone expecting results above and beyond that would be a misconception.

In my situation the Draft Guard Extreme performed superbly and my draft is gone, so I have no other recourse but to recommend it!

I like that it was so easy to install. I had to move the door mat so it didn’t roll it up and it prevents the door from automatically closing behind me. Works well!

He probado otras marcas y sin duda es el que más me ha funcionado para bloquear frío y entrada de insectos.
