053 – Ultimate Guard Protective Industrial Men Women Shoes

Worn daily for about 2 weeks. Really comfortable from day 1; interior nicely finished, well padded. Good arch support despite no mid-sole shank of any kind. Beefy flexible sole, aggressive tread. Upper totally synthetic, feels sturdy. Steel toe makes these a bit heavier than usual sneaker.
I installed 4 mm elastic laces to speed putting on and off — glad I did. Not sure how well these would work for hiking/work on loose dirt, sand, because tongue lacks gussets; but it’s plenty wide and padded, which should keep dirt out for most users — OK for my use. I’m 9.5 by US size, and the 43 Euro I received fits great. No complaints at all, and I expect these will last a good while!

After a pair of Avis I purchased only lasted 1.5 to 2 months, I looked for another pair of slip resistant shoes. I found these shoes being advertised as durable with a ton of other features. These are the same price point as the other shoes. I have tried brand after brand and something always lacks from comfort to durability…my only hesitation with this shoe was which size to get. I am typically a 12.0-12.5 (4E) wide in New Balance sneakers. A different persons review stated the same and he needed to size up, but I disagree/had a different experience. The 12.5 regular of this shoe fits well and is comfortable. First impressions of this shoe are they are gigantic compared to a bigger size sneaker, but much more durable and slightly heavier. I will update this review if the shoes don’t last. Today is July 19, 2022 and this is day 1 for the shoe. I gave it a 5 star rating for everything so far, but the do seem slightly less comfortable than my prior shoes out of the box…They just have that “new shoe” feeling and need to be broken in a little bit.

I ordered these shoes back in March of this year and have largely loved them. The back where it meets and hugs the ankle and Achilles tendon is soft and doesn’t hold up if you try and put them on without unlacing; the collapse of that and the sole wearing out a bit faster than I would expect are my only complains about the product. They fit like a wide shoe even though they are not listed that way. They have saved my feet from being crushed multiple times including being run over by a truck and saved my foot from a large and very heavy metal plate that came off an 30 ton hydraulic press actively under load.

Now to my real complaint, I tried to order another pair of these and after a week of waiting for delivery (was supposed to be 2 day but Amazon has been struggling with delivery times since Prime day 3 weeks ago), I got the wrong item. I did the process to replace them to try and get what I ordered and, once again, got the wrong item after multiple delivery delay notices 5 days later. Amazon customer service refunded the item and suggested I order from another seller. I don’t see another seller with these so I’m going to have to switch products to get what I need and at this point I probably just have to go to a local store and over pay for a steel toe work shoe because I’m getting desperate for time on these.

In the photos for this post, I’m including a picture of the shoes after 4 months of heavy use (note that the heel is wearing through on the sole as the only piece that hasn’t held up to wear and heavy use). I’m also including a picture of the non-steel toe dress shoes I’ve been sent twice while trying to get a new pair.

The appearance and fit are great. Not too heavy and feels sturdy. I haven’t had a chance to use it for work yet as I received it on a Saturday but so far just wearing it feels comfortable.

My first impression is good, but time will tell more. I’m concerned that the eyelets are cloth rather than metal. I chose this shoe because it looked like the toe may wear better than others.

My son said these are the best work shoes he has had- and he has had many very expensive shoes. We will be getting these again!
